“…darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light” (Genesis 1:2-3).

What the Bible says in its first verses is simple but incredibly profound. God spoke the creation into existence through His Word and Spirit. The reverberation of God’s infinite power is at the heart of all things. The Hebrew word translated “moved” in Genesis 1:2 is “rachaph” which is elsewhere translated “fluttered” or “shook” as in “jittered” or “vibrated”. In other words, God’s creative energy seems to be an energy of vibration, a wave energy – the “fluttering” Spirit and the sound waves of energy in God’s voice. Nine times in Genesis 1 we read, “God said” – each time speaking another phase of creation into existence.

No wonder the root form of all physicality in the Universe is energy. Subatomic particles such as electrons, photons and the quarks within the protons and neutrons inside the nucleus of an atom are all discrete amounts of wave energy – of vibration. As every masterpiece is a reflection of its maker, all creation, the entire created universe, is a reflection of, and indeed is upheld by, its spiritual origin in God, who is “a Spirit”. The Bible says, “For by Him were all things created… And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist (are sustained)” (Colossians 1:16).

At a microscopic/atomic level, everything has a magnetic energy field generated by electrons spinning around a nucleus. The earth, spinning on its axis and carrying molten iron in its outer core as it spins, aligns the elemental electric currents in the molten iron to generate a magnetic field along its north-south axis. Electric currents (electron flow) always produce magnetic fields – with electron flow in a certain direction generating a magnetic field perpendicular to the direction of that flow. So as the earth spins on its axis toward the east, a compass needle aligns toward the north because of the magnetic field generated.

But the solid inner core of the earth resists the spinning outer core, and this produces a “rapid decay” in the measured strength of earth’s magnetic field. Here is one of many examples for a “young earth” creation with a maximum extrapolated age of less than 20,000 years. Any older than that and the earth would be too hot to hold water on its surface, among other things. With their long age requirements, evolutionary scientists have no good explanation to fit this “rapid” decay rate. But the current creationist theory of free decay from the time of earth’s creation with understanding of the great cataclysm of Noah’s Flood does.

Electro-magnetic fields (EMF) are connected to all forms of energy, all forms of media, not just material objects like the elements of the Periodic Table from which all known substances derive, or like the earth itself. Our use of the word “media” not only applies to substances like solids, liquids and gases, but media includes and is now primarily used to refer to electronic messaging through “the airwaves” by radio, television, film, and the World Wide Web. This media, like the root structure within physical substances, also occupies the invisible electro-magnetic realm with its spectrum of discrete energy frequencies moving at the speed of light.

The Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan (1911-1980) wrote about how light and visual imaging creates a social effect, a different environment by its mere presence. This is a separate form of content as that delivered by words because the information becomes holistic and perceived “all at once”.

McLuhan coined the famous phrase “The medium is the message”. He also coined the term “global village” and predicted the World Wide Web 30 years before it came to pass. He said, “The new electronic interdependence recreates the world in the image of a global village.” Today we are living through the upheaval of local culture and tradition by increasingly globalized (and worldly) values, because electronic media reaches everywhere and everyone in the world.

There is so much that bombards our senses physically, emotionally, and spiritually as well. Wavelengths of the spiritual world interact with wavelengths of the physical world in the unseen realm where the Spirit of God and angels and demons and the devil get their messaging to our body, soul, and spirit. These bombardments are in various forms of vibrational energy, and we are the receptors (Ephesians 6:10-13). So be careful about what you watch! And be careful about what you listen to!

We are finding out more and more about how Big Tech with increasingly powerful computer algorithms on the Internet can propagandize and tailor their messaging precisely to each of us – to our individual tastes and personalities, so as to manipulate our weaknesses. The medium becomes the message – and we hardly even realize it!

There is an avalanche of entertainment, games, virtual worlds, fake news, fear mongering, gambling and pornography that can drain dry the minds and strength of those who are enslaved by it. But if we keep our minds free and focused on the Lord and vigilant in doing what is right, we can prosper just as Daniel prospered in Babylon. “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory” (Colossians 3:2-4).

The glory of God is another aspect of how close electro-magnetic radiation (EMR – “the light spectrum”) is to the nature of God. We read in the Bible about the tremendous luminosity and brilliance of light that manifests the presence of God – from the Shekinah glory cloud that followed the children of Israel in the wilderness … to the shining face of Moses returning from Mount Sinai … to the visions of Ezekiel and Daniel and John of God on His throne … and the experiences of the transfigured and glorified Jesus. It seems that light is present where God is present. In fact, the Bible says “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5).

As we approach Resurrection Sunday (Easter) – we take heart that even though the world is steeped in darkness, we can keep our eyes upon the heavenly light that shines forth from Jesus, the Light of the world. While many people are confused and frightened, let us be light-bearers of the faith we have in our Savior.

And remember what Jesus said in John 4:35b – “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” Indeed they are! And thanks to your ongoing prayers and financial support, Creation Moments will continue to follow the Lord into those fields to reap an abundant harvest to His glory!
