The Subtlety and Oppression of Deceit

“Woman without her man is a savage beast!”

Does that get your attention? Does it seem not quite right? Perhaps some of you will be offended – or have to think about it for awhile.

But what if I had written:

“Woman, without her, man is a savage beast!”

Now THAT rings more true. For many reasons, women are a civilizing and family/homemaking influence on the average man – driven as men are by more testosterone.

Notice how different the meaning while using the exact same words in the exact same order. What a difference two little commas can make!

Sometimes, a very subtle difference in the way information is conveyed lies behind a tremendous deception. As in the above illustration, a very minor thing completely changed the meaning of the sentence.

We see this going on all the time with the three great repositories of evil – the world, the flesh and the devil. Deception is everywhere. The devil – the initial deceiver of mankind, “the father of lies” (John 8:44) who “deceives the nations” (Revelation 12:7-10) – is behind it. But we in our fallen nature are often willingly sucked in to take part in the great deceptions and the lies of the enemy. It takes real work to “contend for the faith” as the Scripture discusses in Jude 3-4 – the faith which is the truth that makes you free (John 8:32).

Last month we discussed the great deception of Socialism and its current vehicle for implementation – “Climate Change” – because “we need to save the planet!” H.L. Mencken wrote, “The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule it.” Socialism holds out the promise of a false utopia – because those “in the know” want control.

Over the years there have been many alarmist cycles of doom. Several decades ago the world was supposedly cooling and a disastrous ice age was coming. I still have an old November 1976 National Geographic magazine with a 45-page feature article about how most of the “experts” thought as much.

Also, over-populated China and India were going to starve, and the world was going to run out of food, not being able to support the burgeoning population. Remember that? Yet, China and India today are emerging powers, and many people in the world are struggling to eat less, not more!

We were also supposedly at “peak oil” in the 1970s, with gasoline lines and rationing in 1973 and 1979 because of an emerging oil shortage. But as with the “green revolution” and genetically improved seeds helping alleviate the food crisis in much of the world, mankind has figured out ways to solve these problems.

Man has exercised his God-ordained stewardship of “dominion” (Genesis 1:26-28 and Psalm 8:6), motivated by free enterprise. In addition to finding more ways to grow food, man has found more ways to look for and extract oil and gas, and to liquefy natural gas.

So here it is 40 years later from the peak oil “crisis” and we have more energy reserves than ever! Adjusted for inflation, the price per gallon of gasoline in most parts of the country is less now than it was in 1970, or even than it was in 1918! (Yes, you can “Google it”!) In hind-sight, the above crises were fear-mongering and disinformation – in other words, lies or “fake news”. As mentioned earlier, this is the way of the world, the flesh and the devil. As Christians, we should be discerning and aware!

Censoring and exclusion of certain ideas are part of the disinformation. So it is no surprise that Google and the rest of the Big-Tech companies are being exposed for their suppression of ideas which do not fit a leftist progressive narrative. Control over others, disbelief in God, giving in to intellectual bullying, fear-mongering and hopelessness are ways the devil oppresses and keeps people in darkness – just as with the grand deception of evolution, driver for so much godlessness.

As we saw above with the sentence illustration, there are many subtle ways to twist the truth. Even by simply labeling them the opposite of what they really are, lies are made into truth. This is what we are up against in the labeling of approved deceptive agendas as “science”. As with George Orwell’s society in his dystopian novel 1984, we are asked (required) to forget the contradictions. Simply go along with the approved agenda and believe Big Brother’s reality – a dictated “reality” of false labeling:

WAR IS PEACE

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

And so it is extremely important that as Christians we contend for truth and hold everything up to the light of God’s Word! Jesus said, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32) That’s what I will be doing when I go to Cuba later this year – contending for God’s truth. And what exactly is this truth?

The truth includes creation in all its incredible wonder and beauty and order! And we must not let the grand lie of evolution obscure the truth that sets us free! That truth also includes the greatest event of history which absolutely substantiates a great hope beyond the futility and suffering of this present world. And this truth is the Resurrection of Jesus Christ – which we celebrate this month!
