Philosophy Camouflaged to Look Like True Science

August 18th, 2008

Many people - especially those who believe in creation - resist watching science shows on PBS and the Discovery Channel, because these programs are usually saturated with unscientific claims favoring evolution. However, even Darwinian soapboxes like Nova can be worth watching, just as long as you do so with a discerning eye.

The first thing you have to do is separate the program’s true science from its unfounded Darwinian musings. For example, when the narrator describes a creature as roaming the earth “60 million years ago,” know that you have now left the world of science and are right in the heart of The Darwinist Zone. Such claims are pure conjecture, nothing more. Read the rest of this entry »

Evolution-Creation: Where Do Obama and McCain Stand?

August 13th, 2008

Come November, which presidential candidate will you vote for? While the candidates’ views on many issues will influence your decision, we hope that one of these issues is their view regarding origins and the teaching of evolution in public schools.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told the York Daily Record his stance on the teaching of evolution: “I’m a Christian, and I believe in parents being able to provide children with religious instruction without interference from the state. But I also believe our schools are there to teach worldly knowledge and science. I believe in evolution, and I believe there’s a difference between science and faith. That doesn’t make faith any less important than science. It just means they’re two different things. And I think it’s a mistake to try to cloud the teaching of science with theories that frankly don’t hold up to scientific inquiry.” (Emphasis added)

Republican presidential candidate John McCain takes a somewhat different approach. At a 2007 debate at St. Anselm College, McCain was asked if creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the nation’s schools. His response: “No, I believe that’s up to the school districts. But I think that every American should be exposed to all theories. There’s no doubt in my mind that the hand of God was in what we are today. And I do believe that we are unique, and I believe that God loves us. But I also believe that all of our children in school can be taught different views on different issues. I leave the curricula up to the school boards.” (Emphasis added)

And we leave your choice of candidate up to you.

2008 Creation Moments Creationism Conference

July 24th, 2008

If you enjoy listening to Ian Taylor on the “Creation Moments” radio broadcast, you’ll want to attend the third annual Creation Moments Creationism Conference being held Saturday, September 20, in Mounds View, Minnesota, just north of Minneapolis. Taylor will be making two presentations at the conference.

“We believe it’s crucial for Christians to attend the conference,” Taylor said. “Christians need to become more knowledgeable about the battle between creation and evolution and between theism and atheism. Prominent evolutionists like Richard Dawkins are writing bestselling books that viciously attack the Bible, but few Christians are prepared to defend their beliefs.”

Another speaker at the conference, Creation Moments Board Chairman Mark Cadwallader, added, “The conference is designed to give Christians powerful evidences that support creation science and potent arguments against Darwinism. It’s also ideal for students who want to hear what they won’t be taught at school.”

Cost to attend the full-day conference is $25, and this fee includes lunch as well as being able to purchase creationism books and DVDs at discount pricing. Creation Moments is offering a 10% discount to students, to groups of five or more from churches who register at the same time, and to those who attend Bethlehem Baptist Church, host church of the conference.

To register for the conference - or for more information - call 1-800-422-4253 or register online at www.creationmoments.com/register.

“We’re Here to Evolve,” Says Oprah

June 20th, 2008

Speaking at the Stanford commencement last week was Oprah Winfrey – a superstar with so much fame and power, she’s known simply by her first name. When the senior class presidents first heard that Oprah was selected to speak, they said: “We look forward to hearing her thoughts about meeting life’s challenges and making a difference in the world.”

And what thoughts did she share?

Up on the Bayou

June 13th, 2008

By a vote of 94-3, Louisiana’s House of Representatives yesterday passed an academic freedom bill that would protect teachers and school districts that promote objective discussion about evolution and other scientific topics. The Louisiana Science Education Act now goes to the Louisiana Senate before becoming law. Read the rest of this entry »

Evolution Sinks to a New Low

May 29th, 2008

As scientists search for water and evidence of life on Mars, other scientists are plumbing the depths of the ocean to get to the bottom of the questions: how and where did life begin? According to a paper being published today in Nature, the seafloor – once considered to be a barren plain – is teeming with microbial life, leading scientists to believe that this may be where life first began.

USC geomicrobiologist Katrina Edwards and colleagues found thousands of times more bacteria on the seafloor than in the water above. ScienceDaily reports that the newfound abundance of seafloor microbes makes it theoretically possible that early life thrived – and maybe even began – on the seafloor.

While Creation Moments supports the exploration of space and the ocean depths, scientists are on a futile quest if they’re looking in those places for the origin of life. Yes, they can search high and low, but the only true answers can be found in the Bible. In fact, the answer is right there on the very first page!

Expelled: Have You Seen It? What Did You Think?

May 4th, 2008

Though Darwinists desperately tried to keep it from being shown, they were unable to expel from movie theaters the controversial film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. The Scriptures say that “all things become visible when they are exposed by the light” (Eph. 5:13). In this case it was the light from movie projectors that exposed what Darwinists are doing to silence those who dare to disagree.

Did you see Expelled? If so, we want to hear what you thought of it.

  • What impressed you the most?
  • Did the film change your beliefs, one way or the other?
  • What did you learn by watching the film?

We invite you to leave your comments. Yes, even evolutionists are invited to post a response. All we ask is that you make your point concisely and without using foul or insulting language. Because we’re warning you – one foul word and your comments will be expelled from this blog!

The Film That Will Get Everyone Talking About Creationism and Evolution

April 8th, 2008

If you think the battle between creation science and evolution is fierce, wait until Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed comes to movie theaters nationwide on Friday, April 18! While Creation Moments may not agree with everything in the film, we wholeheartedly agree with its basic premise: Creation Science and Intelligent Design deserve a fair hearing in the marketplace of ideas.

We highly recommend that you see Expelled and that you see it during its opening weekend. High box office receipts during the film’s opening weekend will help to ensure the film’s success. Read the rest of this entry »

What We Can Learn from “Evolution Sunday”

March 7th, 2008

“Evolution Sunday” was recently observed in 807 congregations around the world. In effect, the Bible was kicked out of the pulpit and replaced with Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. Praise be to Darwin!

When you count them all up, 807 is only a drop in the bucket … and it’s just a handful more than the number of congregations that observed Evolution Sunday in 2007. What’s more disturbing, however, is the fact that over 11,000 clergy members signed their names to “An Open Letter Concerning Religion and Science.” Read the rest of this entry »
