A friend of mine whose mother went to Columbia University in the 1930s told me recently that her professors taught that the Bible couldn’t be true because it says that Israel would become a nation again. There’s no way that could happen, the professors said! In their view, the political situation and the status of the nation-less Jewish people at the time made a modern nation of Israel after almost 2,000 years of being scattered utterly impossible!
Yet, in 1948, a new nation of Israel did become a reality! And here it is, surviving and thriving miraculously 70 years later, surrounded by much larger enemy nations which have tried several times to eradicate it. As the Bible says in Amos 9:15, “And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.”
God’s Word is true in all things it covers. Indeed, a plain sense reading of the Bible sees the return of the nation of Israel in sections of Genesis, Psalms, Deuteronomy, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Amos. Before 1948, those familiar with the plain sense of the Old Testament would have to explain away those Scriptures somehow or say that the Bible cannot be true. But the best thing would have been for them to continue believing what was quite unbelievable at the time.
We see the same thing happening with the pseudoscience of evolutionism. People feel they have to somehow compromise the Bible with what the evolutionary scientists say … and they end up disbelieving whole sections of the Bible, or they essentially throw it all out! But they could believe God’s Word – like you and I do – and interpret science in light of what they read in the Scriptures. When we take that position of faith, what we see happening is that science tends to play catch-up with the Bible. And we see – especially after the modern creationist movement began – that the biblical-creation model of earth history just keeps getting better and better, and tighter and tighter … while evolution runs into more and more problems.
For example, we recently wrote about how, with advances in genetic science, the accumulating data does not support the predictions of evolution. The huge and growing database of “barcoded” mitochondrial DNA sequences of millions of specimens from thousands of species being compiled worldwide reveals no “missing links”. Instead, the data confirms the distinct and tremendous separation of species groups. This confirms what the Bible says in Genesis about God creating each living thing distinct according to its “kind”. It refutes what evolution predicts in terms of supposed evolutionary intermediate changes with many different forms between species.
The Bible is infallible and inerrant. It is true when it talks about the past, the present or the future; when it discusses ancient history, earth history, theology, ethics, morality, science or prophecy. The Bible has a lot to say about the future, and much of what was once in the future – like the re-establishment of the nation of Israel – has now happened or is occurring in the present! For example, the Bible envisions the nations of the Earth uniting under a one-world government and one-world currency. The term we use today is “globalism”. And there are a lot of people who espouse this “ideal” – including many of the world’s elite, who consider themselves to be citizens of the globe without allegiance to any particular country.
What unites the globalist vision is a humanist ideal – mankind working together to achieve more through cooperation in our “diversity”. Such cooperation means more profits and power for global-minded elites who benefit from cheap labor and global trade; more joint efforts against world problems, both real and imagined, like so-called “climate change”; more accommodation of the deception that it is incorrect, ethnocentric or even racist to claim the truth of the Bible and of Christianity – which boils down in the end to hatred of Christianity.
As we have noted before, this is a Tower-of-Babel-type unification of mankind – a coming together in order to magnify mankind apart from his Maker. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed (the Messiah), saying, let us break their bands asunder and cast away their cords from us” (Psalm 2:1-3). Mankind has a depraved desire to rebel and to do away with the one true God. Evolutionism is one manifestation of this desire, and so are Socialism and Humanism and all sorts of “…corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4).
For years now, Christians have decried the effects of multiculturalism – where values are reduced to “tolerance” … but ends up being “intolerance” of Christian values. Multiculturalism has worked against the Christian consensus that has been so long a mainstay of American society and of Western Civilization. We have seen its effects in the public schools and universities as well as in multinational corporations and governments. Indeed, there is a visceral hatred in many people toward anyone who would challenge the notion that multiculturalism – or illegal immigration – may be a bad thing.
Contrary to what many Christians may think, biblical Christianity does not teach simple accommodation of foreign entities. “Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children (aliens, foreigners – in most other translations), whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood” (Psalm 144:11). Though it may be politically incorrect today to preach as much, the Bible warns us not to “mingle among the heathen”, and that this was a great mistake of the Jewish people in the Promised Land. In fact, it damaged the faith of future generations. There comes a point when multiculturalism is simply overwhelming to a culture trying to maintain a basis in biblical principle and morality.
Today, whether in Europe or in America, we are seeing an intense push for open borders by the socialist, humanist and political left, as well as by cheap labor corporatists. And they are supported by liberal Christianity as well. Christianity has been infected by socialist “liberation theology”, biblical compromise and so-called “higher criticism” – much of it coming from the acceptance of evolutionism.
Christians may be tempted to compromise with false philosophy when biblical truth and secular ideas seem to be in conflict. But standing on God’s Word is the key – and the Bible tells us there is a reward for it in the end. Much of what has happened in terms of the degradation of Western Culture is due to the acceptance of and toleration for what amounts to “mingling” with false philosophy. And evolution is right there, supporting much of it!
That’s why we are so thankful to you for standing with us in the fight against the false doctrines that are opposed to the gospel of Christ.
