John 8:12
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
The ocean is filled with animals that can generate their own light. Even Charles Darwin admitted that his theory of evolution could not explain how this bioluminescence might have evolved. As modern evolutionists try to explain how it might have evolved, they are making some interesting practical discoveries.
Bioluminescent creatures use a variety of luciferin molecules that produce light when combined with oxygen. The result can be blue, green, bright red or violet light. Today we want to look at the most common form of luciferin. Though most bioluminescent animals use this luciferin, most of them can’t make it for themselves. It apparently enters their system through their diet. However, no one knows which creature produces it. Researchers are primarily interested in its ability to combine so efficiently with oxygen. This ability allows the luciferin to deactivate free radicals. Each of us produces free radicals in the process of living. In low doses, these oxidants produce aging. In large quantities, they produce death. So researchers exposed cultured human cells to a fatal dose of free radicals. Then they added common luciferin. They found that even low doses cleaned up the free radicals and saved the cells. Based on what they learned, researchers hope to produce true anti aging skin creams and cure Alzheimer’s disease.
No light, including bioluminescence, has evolved. All light originates with God, including the spiritual light of His Truth.
