Have you ever heard of FOMO?

As the world moves forward, the amount of information continues to grow exponentially, and the accessibility of that information is increasing thanks to technological advancements. With so much out there, it’s easy to develop a “fear of missing out” on things (FOMO) – critical topics, what’s happening beyond the local scene, the latest trends, technology, and certainly the latest news. Here’s the punchline upfront: if you are a child of God, you do not have to fear you are missing out. God has made a special provision for you!

In today’s digital age, we are bombarded by a “tsunami” of information from social media, online communities, news websites, search engines, academic resources, entertainment platforms, shopping sites, and specialized apps. The list could go on! It gives me a headache just thinking about trying to keep up. Are you feeling some FOMO right now? The truth is, there is absolutely no way to keep up with all of it. In this society, on top of everything else we do, we are expected to add the task of staying up-to-date with everything happening around us.

We may scroll to keep up, to catch up, and sometimes, we may scroll for no reason at all – especially since the marketing algorithms know how to keep people hooked!

Information has always been around, but there have been some critical inflection points that made it more accessible. In the mid-15th century, Johannes Gutenberg changed the world with his invention of the movable-type printing press. This was a major step – perhaps the major step – in making information accessible to everyone. Books could now be produced quickly and cheaply, spreading knowledge far and wide. The first major use of Gutenberg's technology was the printing of the Gutenberg Bible in 1455, which was monumental in getting God’s Word to the masses. Praise God for that! The Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries brought the telegraph, the telephone, steam-powered printing presses, and mass-produced paper, making information even more available to the public.

Then, email and the World Wide Web in the late 20th century connected people globally, allowing instant access to vast amounts of information. The early 21st century saw the rise of smartphones, putting information at our fingertips. Now, artificial intelligence (AI) is the latest game-changer, transforming how we interact with information and making data more accessible than ever before. What once took days, weeks, or even months to communicate now arrives in a fraction of a second. The information is readily available, and as some have argued, maybe even too available - the terms “information addict” and “information junkie” come to mind.

But while technological advancements have made information more accessible, there’s another kind of information – higher, transcendent information – that means you never have to experience FOMO again! What I’m talking about is God’s Holy Word. His Word is different. His Word is “other-worldly.” His Word is eternal: “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” Psalm 119:89.

The accessibility of information all started with God speaking the world into existence: “For he spake, and it was done.” Psalm 33:9. After God created everything, He made sure His Word would be preserved for His people from the beginning. As His children, we have always had access to EVERYTHING we need because we have access to His Word! Through the Holy Spirit, He writes His law “in our hearts” – and His truth is recorded in the Bible. The Bible trumps FOMO!

For the word of God is quick (living), and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…” Hebrews 4:12. God’s Word isn’t just a database. It is a living technology He has made available to us, allowing us to know His will, grow in understanding, and walk confidently in His path. As we lean on His Word and rely on the Holy Spirit, we experience true communion with Him. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17. And the Holy Spirit helps us live according to His will, guiding us daily.

This was God’s design from the very beginning. When Adam and Eve sinned and fellowship with God was broken, God made a way for man to be restored. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8. No matter how quickly the world moves, God's truth remains unchanging. His Word is eternal, and it will always speak to our hearts, bringing clarity and peace in the midst of the data storm (see also Luke 8:22-25). This is the remedy for FOMO – God’s Word, the one constant source of truth in an ever-changing world.

As you navigate the flood of information in this world, remember: you are never alone. God’s transcendent technology is available to you – His Word, through the Holy Spirit, gives you access to the only information that truly matters: His heart, His voice, and His direction for your life. Lean into God’s provision today. Tap into His eternal wisdom, and trust that He will guide you in every decision. The world may be filled with noise, but His Word will provide you with peace, understanding, and everything you need to live a godly life. Don’t let FOMO control your thoughts or actions. You are not missing out on what truly matters – because you have God’s timeless truth at your fingertips.

At Creation Moments, our board and staff are committed to hearing God’s voice, growing in Him, and using every platform available to point people back to the truth of God’s Word and experience His life-transforming power. Your continued support helps us reach our sin-sick and dying world. Our ministry will not compromise on the timeless and powerful message of our Creator God, who demonstrated His lovingkindness by becoming a man and dying on the cross to save men, women, and children anywhere and everywhere:

“… (God) will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all...” 1 Timothy 2:4-6. In a world full of endless information, constant distractions, and addiction-inducing media algorithms, there is only one Truth that “makes us free” John 8:31-32.

Would you help us continue to proclaim this great Truth?

Although David was raised in a Christian home and made a profession of faith when he was quite young, it wasn’t until he was 21 that he understood the grace and love of His Savior, Jesus Christ, and became a true believer. This happened just after he finished serving in the military and moved to Texas, where he met his bride-to-be. David and Kaitlyn have been married and serving Jesus together for over 35 years.

They homeschooled all of their children and have been actively involved in their local churches and communities. Besides having a heart for adoption, they have been greatly encouraged by ministries like Jews for Jesus, Voice of the Martyrs, PreBorn!, Samaritan’s Purse, Answers in Genesis, and Way of the Master. David’s greatest passion is to grow closer to Jesus every day and to encourage others to do the same! He loves his wife, children (and many grandchildren), the outdoors, and enjoys musing over God’s creation as it “declares the glory of the Lord.” As a scientist for a large corporation in central Kentucky and part-time chemistry professor at a local community college, he often has opportunities to share the truth of our caring Creator and Redeemer.
