Genesis 1:1-2

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

If there was a Big Bang, where did it happen? By asking such a question, we are not accepting that the Big Bang happened. It is contrary to Scripture. But it is a logical question to ask of those who believe the theory.

One recent article has attempted to answer that question by stating that the Big Bang happened everywhere at the same time. It is sometimes forgotten that Big Bangers do not envisage an explosion at one point in space which expanded into space. Instead, they suppose that the whole of space itself existed in the original singularity. So, therefore, the Big Bang happened everywhere because everywhere is in one spot.

Nevertheless, this explanation still lacks something. It can only explain matters if the universe started expansion from a super-hot state. Yet, a quantum event would have caused a singularity with no energy. Indeed, the article states: “Where the Universe begins expanding and cooling from this state according to the laws of General Relativity”. This means that before that state, the universe did not obey the laws of General Relativity. Simply stating that these well-established physical laws did not apply does not, in fact, offer an explanation that is any better than suggesting it all happened by magic.

Genesis tells us that the Spirit was hovering over the deep at the beginning of creation, so there was a clear source of all energy, which was God Himself, and this is a much more scientific explanation.

Prayer: Our Lord and Creator, everything we have came from You, including all of the energy of the Universe. We praise You for Your mighty power. Amen.
