Here’s an old parable with a profound lesson!
Truth and Lie go swimming in a pond on a hot day. They realize they don’t have their swimming suits so they go skinny dipping. After having fun swimming, Truth realizes that he needs to go back to work and sees that Lie has already left. Truth finds both his and Lie’s clothes gone, goes into town buck naked, knocks on Lie’s door, and says, “Why did you steal my clothes?” Lie answers, “I didn’t steal your clothes”. Truth says, “But you are wearing them right now!” And Lie responds, “Not only did I not steal your clothes, but these are my clothes and always have been!”
The moral of the story: We are more willing to believe a lie in truth’s clothing than to believe the naked truth! The doubling-down insistence, “gaslighting”, of lies actually sells them to us. Man’s sin and condition in this world brings a certain “dementia” which fails to see a lie for what it is.
The disciples asked Jesus on the Mt of Olives, “…what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the end of the world (age)? Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you” (Matthew 24:3-4). Deception was the first thing He referenced. Then Jesus gave the famous Olivet Discourse in which He talked from the book of Daniel about “the Abomination of Desolation” and the return of “the Son of Man”.
What is deception? It is the calling card of Satan, “the father of lies” (John 8:44). In the form of the “crafty (subtle) serpent” he doubled down on his lie (his propaganda) to Adam and Eve in the Garden by saying, “Ye shall not surely die”. Then he dressed up his lie “in truth’s clothing”: “For…your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:4-5). Indeed there is an enlightenment of the occult, the “enlightenment of the serpent”, a “truth” which mankind finds fascinating in order to wield power as little “gods, knowing good and evil”.
And the grand lie of evolution is dressed up in a “truth” to a certain extent, the truth of natural selection within species groups, the biblical “kinds” of Genesis, which propagate “after their kind” (Genesis 1). Though its extrapolation to creative change between kinds is completely unobserved and impossible from animal breeding and genetics. So this big lie of evolution goes on to propose the lie of millions and billions of years in order for such evolution to occur, which makes it impossible to test, and goes against all recorded history – a record of human history going back only a few thousand years, in line with the Bible.
The preference mankind shows for lies is truly amazing. Consider that many people have accepted the “crafty propaganda” of evolution, crafty because it has co-opted the distinction of being “science”. Such propaganda defies the common sense testimony of the creation which reveals its Creator, even to the point that we are “without excuse” from the evidence of “what has been made”, for “God has made it plain” to us (Romans 1:19-20).
In 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10, the Bible sheds more light on what Jesus taught in the Olivet Discourse, saying again “let no man deceive you”…and that the Antichrist will deceive many… “with all deceivableness of unrighteousness (every iniquitous fraud) in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved”.
The phrase “deceivableness of unrighteousness (iniquitous fraud)” is amazingly accurate, as is “received not the love of the truth”. Consider also in our day how many people have incredibly accepted the “crafty propaganda” that people can and have a right to change their gender. That it’s OK to mutilate yourself for this purpose, and for genetic boys to compete in sports against genetic girls. Or consider that it made “perfect sense” during COVID for people to wear their masks when they entered a restaurant and then remove them when they sat down to eat. Or to stay off their porches during the lockdowns, yet the same protagonists arguing for such extreme lockdowns encouraged protests in large crowds with BLM, because that “cause” superseded the other during that same summer of lockdowns. Crafty propaganda? Yes.
When self-identified Muslim-Socialist attorney general, Keith Ellison, finally released the police body-cam footage of the George Floyd incident - two months after the incendiary bystander video that went viral all over the world - it showed the troubled George Floyd in panicked agitation, resisting arrest, and saying “I can’t breathe” long before being held down on the ground. And the autopsy showed that heart disease, methamphetamines, a positive test for COVID, and 11 ng/ml of fentanyl in his blood were contributing co-factors, if not primary causes of death, for George Floyd (arrested breathing is a symptom of fentanyl overdoses). (1) It has now come to light that Mr Ellison, as well as Gov. Tim Walz, who unnecessarily put him in charge of the affair, have long been trading racist victimization politics for votes and campaign contributions to hold on to power and achieve cultural Marxist goals.
The same type of “crafty propaganda” was exposed in April when the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was indicted by a federal grand jury for spending millions of dollars over many years to initiate racist incidents by extremist groups so that they could then claim racism and hate, and raise millions of dollars from those who buy into it. This is the same organization that has declared many conservative Christian groups to be “hate groups” – including Turning Point USA, founded by Charlie Kirk, who was murdered some time after that. Are you beginning to see how “the deceivableness of unrighteousness” and “the love of the truth” are important points of biblical doctrine we all need to understand?
Another current event, relevant in its potential to be abused by those who have “received not the love of the truth”, is the May 8, 2026, release by the Department of War of new, never-before-seen files on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), often called UFOs. Though transparency is the best policy for truth, there are all kinds of beliefs about UFOs, aliens, and extra-terrestrial life that invite deception. You may remember the UFO cult, Heaven’s Gate, which committed group suicide in 1997 because they thought they were going to ascend to their next “evolutionary phase” and get on the “Mother Ship”, supposedly trailing the comet Hale-Bopp as it made its closest pass to earth at 122 million miles. This month, we are happy to offer the DVD, Alien Intrusion: Unmasking a Deception, for you or anyone in your family or friend group interested. Here is another evolution-based philosophy that can be highly deceptive.
So, in an era of chaos and deception, how does one “receive” this crucial “love of truth” described in 2 Thessalonians 2:10? By receiving the One Who calls Himself “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)! Only by truly knowing Jesus Christ, waiting on Him, checking with His Spirit inside, and renewing our minds through His Word, can we navigate the tangled web of Satan’s lies surrounding us.
The Bible contains the “naked truth” about God, and about the nature, condition, and solution for mankind! That is why we must keep proclaiming the whole truth of the Bible worldwide! We rejoice that you stand with us in this great mission and ask that you once again prayerfully consider what God may prompt you to give to the proclamation of truth in our day! God bless you!
