How should a Christian respond with Grace and Truth in the era of pervasive Critical Gender Theory? Do the Bible and Creation science hold a key to challenging Critical Gender Theory that some are embracing and establishing in the public schools? Let us consider the opportunity before us to be apologists for the Biblical truth of our identities as His creation.
The Lord presents His creation of the universe in Genesis as six, twenty-four-hour days of His display of omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, and transcendence. God reveals the perfection and goodness of all He made in the beginning. We can be certain that His creation of male and female was “very good” and immutable, in that He has chosen our identities for His good pleasure and glory. “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring,” says Paul, writing under the Holy Spirit’s inspiration, in Acts 17:28. The history of our origin begins in the good creation and with total fellowship to our Lord God in holiness and sinless perfection.
Corruption followed Adam and Eve’s decision to rebel and disobey our Creator. They failed to trust Him and divorced themselves from Him. In His sinless perfection, righteousness, and holiness, we were cast out of His presence and lost our standing before Him. Our fellowship was breached with God and one another. Violence and death lost no time entering our history. The Lord regretted all He had made and destroyed the earth in a global cataclysm that scarred the landscape, leading to an entirely new climate, harsh living conditions, disease, and shorter lifespans.
At Babel, God judged humanity yet again by confusing the languages so man’s pride and sinful ambition would be stymied. Humanity multiplied as the Lord had commanded; civilization emerged, and nations were born on the earth. God made His covenant with Abraham that the promised Messiah would come from his ancestry and be born in sinless perfection. Emmanuel, “God with us.” Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again in absolute divine perfection to restore humanity to Himself. As in the beginning, when He created us, we have the freedom to choose Him and receive restoration and eternal life. Praise be to His holy Name!
Humanity today is living in the light of Romans 1-3 with the Hope of the Gospel of Romans 8 shining and available to every person. The Lord’s enemy is strong with his delusions to rob the Lord of glory and diminish the fruitfulness of the creation. His wiles include delusions of the mind that we are not who the Lord says we are. Many today are tempted to make gods of themselves by declaring an identity contrary to the male/female binary that the Lord has created.
Critical Gender Theory is derived from Marxist theory originating 180 years ago. Many contrarian ideas to the holy Scripture emerged at that time. Humans wrongly believed they could define reality in their pride and deception. Marxism became the newest “epistemology,” derived from the Greek epistēmē (“knowledge”) and logos (“reason”). Biblically, all knowledge and perfect reason is the possession of our Lord and Creator. The Logos Himself is embodied in the sinless Messiah and Creator Jesus Christ, the Son of God who partnered with Father and Spirit in the work of Creation in the beginning (John 1:1-3, 14).
Christ is also the promised Wisdom of Proverbs, who created the universe with the Father. Yet mankind, unredeemed, unrepentant, and spiritually dead, can be made alive in Christ. “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (I Corinthians 15:22).
The freedom to choose Him as Savior is available today for those of us alive.
The wiles of the enemy are to distract with shiny temptations to redefine reality and lure humanity to believe they can (wrongly) be gods of their own identities. Now, 180 years since its origination, the consequences of Critical Gender Theory have ripened into a rotten fruit of death, unfruitfulness, and destruction. Both evolution and Marxism are epistemologies that have captivated a fallen, sinful humanity. True science is a history of what the Lord has created and a quest to discover the amazing nature, function, and purpose of everything He has made. Sadly, science has been diluted by philosophy, so a history of science vs. philosophy has historically dominated the intellectual conversation of humanists seeking answers to our origins apart from trusting the inerrancy of Scripture.
With evolution came division. By extension, the philosophy of Marxism, as documented in the Communist Manifesto, also divides people into economic classes and encourages covetousness and sin in its conflict theory of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. A Christian can readily see that both philosophies trace their origins to a demonic source that opposes the unity of Christ and His authority over the universe. Within a Marxist Conflict Theory, there can be no koinonia (deep fellowship) because the division has people at each other’s throats. The modus operandi (mode of operating) of the worldly, demonic philosophy is to destroy, kill, and annihilate relationships with one another and with our God. The philosophy’s deception lies to us and says we can create ourselves and declare our own identity, in essence lying to us that we can be homo deus (god-men) just as our first parents were deceived that they would be like gods themselves. This is the ancient temptation wrapped in a new ideological package.
What is our true identity as defined by God?
In Matthew 22:36-40, Jesus gives us a sense of our true identity as He created us. “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.” Scripture points to our identity as soul, spirit, and body that will live on into eternity. In Hebrews 9:27-28, the Lord states, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Thus, we have an eternal component to our identity once we die and afterwards as we stand before Him for judgment. For those deceived in changing their body’s function and appearance, the lie is that appearance will continue after death when the soul and spirit, as He created, stand before Him on the righteous throne. Humanity can weigh and choose either the Eternal Truth of our identity vs. the ancient temptation in the form of a new “zeitgeist” of the 2020s - homo deus vs imago dei.
Creation Moments prayerfully stands to defend the scientific evidences for the literal Truth of the Bible. We agree with Scripture as written and revealed. We believe our identity lies in our being a creation of the Lord God Most High. The Spirit moved the Apostle Paul to victoriously proclaim, “ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” The Sovereign Creator, the One we praise and worship, formed our identities both now and forever.
